How do I design my own frames, and what size should the artwork be?
Short answer
Design in any tool that exports PNG (Figma, Canva, Photoshop). Make the artwork at exactly the size Chalkak OS shows for the frame, keep text out of the photo windows, upload it in Studio → Frames, and print a test before publishing.
Artwork sizes
| Format | Size (px) |
|---|---|
| QW410 mini strips and postcard strips | 1236 × 1266 |
| QW410 big strips | 1836 × 1266 |
| DS-RX1HS Big Strips | 1844 × 1240 |
| DS-RX1HS Photo Grid, Pair Print, high-angle formats | 2480 × 3688 |
| Trading cards (front and back) | 940 × 1250 each |
Any other size is rejected, and Chalkak OS tells you the size to export.
In Figma
- Create a frame at the artwork size.
- Draw a rectangle for each photo box, matching the Photos tab, so you know where photos go.
- Design around them: background, logo, event name and date. Leave a safe area at the edges.
- Hide the photo rectangles, export as PNG at 1x.
- In Studio → Frames, open the frame's Design tab and upload it.
- Publish and print a test.
There are six frame types, from one photo to nine, with up to 40 designs each. More tips in the frame design guide.
